A tribute page for my grandma

This page of my website is dedicated to my wonderful grandmother, Anna Costanzi.  She was my second mother and helped raise me since I was about three years old.  Grandma moved in with when my brother, Kevin, was born so my mother could go back to work.

Grandma worked during the day at Kodak and mom was home with us.  Mom got a job from 3:30 -11:00.  Kevin and I were only with a babysitter for an hour and a half in the afternoon.  After a long day at work, Grandma would come home, give us dinner, bathe us and put us to bed.

One of Grandma's happiest events in her life was her retirement from Kodak.  She was thrilled to be out of there.  My mother switched to daytime hours for work.  Every morning, Grandma would get us up and get us ready for school.  She also was there when we got back.  As long as I remember, Grandma was with me when my mother could not be.

Being Italian, Grandma loved to cook and see people eat.  When someone came over, she always tried to give them a bite or two to eat.  Grandma was a great cook.  Some of my favorite things she made were her spinach bread, Easter bread, homemade noodles and sauce.

This great cook had a funny side to her.  Every night when I was little, to give me exercise, Grandma would walk me around the house.  While we took our evening stroll, Grandma would sing songs like Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Another funny habit that Grandma had was that she kept a rosary both in my mother's car and in my van.  Every time we went out, Grandma would say the rosary.  This made mom wonder if Grandma had confidence in her driving.

Besides cooking and shopping for others, Grandma enjoyed reading, watching TV and going to lunch with her friends at the Hilton Senior Center.  A few times a week, a bus would pick her up and take her for lunch at the Center.  On Wednesday's, the group would go shopping and to lunch.

We lost Grandma on February 4th, 2007 from complications due to pneumonia.

I miss Grandma terribly, but I have many great menories of her.  When Anna Costanzi left this world, I just didn't loose my grandmother, I said goodbye to my second mother.  I love you grandma.
